VideoLan è un lettoere multimediale opensource leggerissimo all'avvio. VLC per Windows (ex VideoLAN Client) è un lettore multimediale multi-piattaforma. Il programma e' in grado di leggere DVD, VCD, MPEG, file DivX, e segnali da schede satellitari.
Il programma e' anche in grado di leggere le trasmissioni inviate in rete dai server VideoLAN o da qualsiasi altra sorgente. Le trasmissioni possono essere MPEG-2, TS, inviate in UDP o HTTP su reti IPv4 o IPv6. Permette anche di leggere file codificati in DTS.
VideoLan Client è un ottimo programma per l'anteprima dei video ed audio su emule!.VLC può leggere:• MPEG-1, MPEG-2 e MPEG-4 / file DivX da un disco rigido, un CD-ROM, e così via
• DVD, VCD, CD audio e
• Carte da satellite (DVB-S)
• Diversi tipi di flussi di rete: UDP / RTP Unicast, UDP / RTP Multicast, HTTP, RTSP, MMS, ecc
• Da schede di acquisizione o di codifica (su GNU / Linux e solo per Windows)
